He's Here!!!

Nash Mechling Jackson

February 22, 2008, 1:23 pm
8 lbs. 12 ozs, 21 inches long

We are so blessed to have this new little (ok, not so little) healthy baby in our family. My labor and delivery went very well. We arrived at the hospital around 7:30 am and were waiting to be admitted when another woman came in in REAL labor. Tyler started joking around saying, we were there first, why were they helping her and not us? To make matters even worse, we found out that my baby was due before hers! ERRONEOUS! Anyway, the point of that story was, I am so glad I was induced! My goal for this birth was for it to be as pain-free as possible...REAL REAL NICE! I got the epidural before any painful contractions started, so all was well. Now, if I could just get a nurse to find my vein the first time for the I.V., I'd really be good. Oh well!

After Nash was born and the shock of his dark brown hair wore off, we were moved to the recovery room. Tyler left to go get big brother and sister who were at Grandma JuJu's house. Trace & Sydney were not actually able to hold Nash because they'd both been sick. So, they got to look at him through the nursery window. They seemed to be fine with that. They finally got to meet him face-to-face (literally face-to-face while Sydney was having a coughing fit!) when we were leaving the hospital on Sunday. They came into the room while I was nursing him, and they were very curious about the what was going on. Later, Sydney said to me, "Can I feed the baby with my tummy?" It was pretty cute. Trace opted not to hold Nash in the hospital because he wanted to hold him in his "Cars" rocking chair. He stayed strong to his promise and finally settled into his chair when we got home, ready to hold the baby for 5 whole seconds.

We've been home now for 4 days and we're all adjusting. Aunt Erin kept Trace & Sydney the first day I was home which was so nice! Tyler was supposed to pick them up on his way home from work, but he forgot! So, we met Chris and Erin at a Red Robin and had dinner. Nash's first outing and he slept through the whole thing! Way to go buddy! On Tuesday, JuJu kept the kids, so I had another day of just holding Nash and loving every minute of it. Now it's Thursday and Trace, Sydney and I have been playing with their new toys that baby Nash brought them (Nash managed to make it to Wal-Mart before he arrived on Friday!). It's been non-stop fun around here! We love you baby Nash!

Happy Valentine's Day!

It's hard to believe we've been married for almost NINE years, and Valentine's Day has ALWAYS been a very important day to us... Let's go back about ten years when we were first engaged...It was Valentine's evening, and it was starting to become apparent that Tyler hadn't gotten me anything--yet! So, around 7 pm, he runs to his bedroom and emerges with a look of relief on his face and a card. Inside the card was a gift certificate to "Media Play." I thought, that it was nice, then I read the small handwriting on the card. It was signed, "Merry Christmas, Tyler, Love Grandma Jackson." Needless to say, I was about in tears, and to this day, Tyler firmly stands by his decision to re-gift that insisting he would be happy to get something like that! (Well, he did, and to end this story, Tyler eventually used his gift certificate he gave me!!!)

Anyway, that story always gives us a good laugh now when we tell it to people, and since then, Tyler has become much more romantic and sensitive. I guess most men just don't come that way...I know mine didn't!!! But, I still love him and we had a fun V-Day. The kids and I made Tyler a cookie bouquet and brought it to him at work. We all went out to lunch, which was extremely romantic with Trace and Sydney! Then that night, the kids made chocolate covered strawberries. Tyler and I went out to dinner the night after V-Day and had a great time! He also brought home some beautiful flowers and a movie!
See, he's doing much, much better! I love you Tyler!

Just as a side note for all you who don't know...Baby Nash is due to show up any day now. The doctor said I was dilated to about a 4...however, because of our amazing planning and insurance situation, we are hoping he doesn't come until after the 21st. So, Tyler has put me on strict bed/blog rest (which was really nice over the weekend...I literally didn't lift a finger). If all goes well, I'll be induced on the 22nd, so that we can actually make it to the hospital. My labor with Sydney was a total of 2 1/2 hours...so it's a little scary! I'd post a picture of me in my pregnant misery, but what's the point?

HOLY COW!!!

Holy Cow...it's official, I AM a lame-o blogger. No offense to all you amazing bloggers out there! So, now what do I do??? Guess I'll have to start taking some pictures of the fabulous activities around here so I have something to talk about. Right now, all that's happening here is "Little Einsteins," "Word World," and to mix it up a little, "Dragon Tales." Yes, I am a good mother. While the kiddies are watching uplifting, and of course, educational TV, I lay on the couch amazed that I can still see my toes! Wooohoooo!!!

Now, I would like to take a moment to thank those of you who made this blog possible: Erin Jackson, Erin White, and Megan Jackson. Without you, (sniff, sniff) I would not have had the courage to enter into this cyber-journaling world (sniff, sniff). You ladies light up my life (audible bawling)! I only hope that my blog can do the same for you (weeping)!
